Day Five – Ephesus (Kuşadasi), Turkey.

Kuşadasi is a beach resort town on Turkey’s Aegean Sea.

Just offshore on Pigeon Island is a walled Byzantine castle that once guarded the town, connected to the mainland via causeway.

Our cruise ship was the first to visit Turkey in over 18 months. When we landed at the harbor, we were greeted on the dock by local musicians and singers dressed in traditional garments.

Ephesus is one of the best-preserved cities of antiquity in the world. Built in the 10th century B.C., the city came under the control of the Roman Republic in 129 B.C.
